Scales

A scale defines the card values available during a session. You can use one of the built‑in scales or define your own.

Built‑in scales

  • Fibonacci (0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 43, 55, 89, ?)
  • Modified Fibonacci (0, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 20, 40, 100, ?)
  • T‑Shirt Sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL, ?)

The available deck depends on the scale you select when starting a session.

Use a custom scale (guest)

When creating a free session:

  1. Select Custom in the Start Planning Poker Session dialog.
  2. Enter comma‑separated values in Custom values (for example: ”0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, ?”).
  3. Click Start Session.

Custom scales created by guests are not saved for future sessions.

Manage organization scales (signed‑in)

Signed‑in users can manage reusable scales for their organization.

  1. Open Planning poker in the app and go to Scales.
  2. Click New scale.
  3. Provide a Name and Values.
    • Enter values separated by commas, or press Enter after each value to add it as a token.
  4. Click Save.

You can edit, rename, or delete any scale. The three defaults (Fibonacci, Modified Fibonacci, T‑Shirt Sizes) can be kept, renamed, or removed. When starting a session as a signed‑in user, you choose from your organization’s scales.

Changing scales

  • You cannot change the scale after a session starts. To use a different scale, start a new session.
