Participant Guide

As a participant in a Q&A session, you can submit questions, vote on content, and engage with the discussion. This guide covers everything you need to know to participate effectively in Q&A sessions.

Accessing Q&A Sessions

Getting the Session Link

Session organizers will share a unique link to the Q&A session via:

  • Email invitations with direct links to the session
  • Meeting invitations including the session URL
  • Chat messages or internal communications

Joining a Session

To join a Q&A session:

  1. Click the session link provided by the organizer
  2. Wait for the page to load - you'll see the session name and interface
  3. Begin participating immediately - no additional login required if you're already signed into Mumu

Session Accessibility

Different session modes have different access requirements:

  • Public sessions: Anyone with the link can participate
  • Organization sessions: Only your organization members can join
  • Private sessions: Only specifically invited participants can access

Submitting Questions

Writing Effective Questions

Best Practices:

  • Be specific and focused on the topic at hand
  • Keep questions concise while providing necessary context
  • Use clear language that the entire audience will understand
  • Avoid duplicate questions already submitted by others

Question Content Guidelines:

  • Stay on topic related to the session purpose
  • Be respectful in tone and language
  • Ask one question per submission for clarity
  • Provide context if referencing something specific

Anonymous Submissions

If the session allows anonymous questions, you don’t need to fill in the Name field. The default “Anonymous” label will be used. No personal information about you will be shared with the host or moderators.

Even if the session is created by your organization and you are logged into your Mumu account, the system will not store or reveal any identifying details. In an anonymous session, your host will have no way to identify you.

Submission Confirmation

After submitting your question:

  • Look for confirmation - you may see a green success message saying "Your question has been submitted successfully"
  • Your question appears in the questions section if auto-approval is enabled
  • Wait for approval if manual moderation is required

Engaging with Questions

Voting on Questions

Help prioritize the most important questions by voting:

  1. Review questions submitted by other participants
  2. Click the vote button
  3. Vote count increases showing community interest
  4. Popular questions rise to the top for presenter attention

Viewing Question Activity

In the questions section, you can:

  • See all published questions from the community
  • View vote counts indicating question popularity
  • Read other participants' questions to avoid duplicates
  • Track engagement levels across different topics

Understanding Session Status

Active Sessions

When the session is actively collecting questions:

  • Submit questions freely during the designated time period
  • Vote on existing questions to show priority

Question Deadlines

Sessions may have submission deadlines:

  • Check deadline information provided by the organizer
  • Submit questions early to ensure they're considered
  • Continue voting on questions even after submission deadlines
  • Watch for deadline extensions if announced during live sessions

Moderated Sessions

If questions require approval:

  • Be patient while moderators review submissions
  • Don't resubmit the same question if it doesn't appear immediately
  • Follow up directly with organizers if questions seem lost
  • Understand that not all questions may be approved for publication

Preparation

  • Think about your questions in advance when possible
  • Review session materials or agenda if provided
  • Consider the audience and what would benefit everyone
  • Prepare follow-up questions based on expected discussion

During the Session

  • Submit questions early rather than waiting until the last minute
  • Vote on questions you find interesting or important
  • Pay attention to questions being addressed live
  • Engage respectfully with the Q&A process

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Can't Access the Session

  • Double-check the link provided by the organizer
  • Ensure you're logged into your Mumu account if required
  • Try a different browser if the page won't load
  • Contact the organizer if access problems persist

Question Won't Submit

  • Check character limits - your question may be too long
  • Verify internet connection if the submission button doesn't respond
  • Try refreshing the page and retyping your question
  • Contact technical support for persistent issues

Question Not Appearing

  • Wait for moderation if manual approval is enabled
  • Check that you clicked "Send question" successfully
  • Look for confirmation messages after submission
  • Avoid duplicate submissions while waiting for approval

Voting Problems

  • Refresh the page if vote buttons don't respond
  • Check that you're voting on published questions only
  • Report technical issues to session organizers if problems continue
